NSC Staffing is seeking a Maintenance Pipefitter for an exciting opportunity to install, repair, and maintain live mechanical piping systems. This role is ideal for experienced professionals familiar with plumbing, mechanical, and gasfitting codes, with a strong background in piping system installations and repairs. Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Piping Technician, you will work with live mechanical piping systems, ensuring proper installation, maintenance, and repair. You will interpret blueprints and codes, troubleshoot piping issues, and ensure all systems meet safety and compliance standards. This position offers an opportunity to work independently while also collaborating with a skilled team in an industrial setting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Repair: Install and repair live mechanical piping systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Code Compliance: Work in compliance with Plumbing, Mechanical, and Gasfitter codes to ensure safe and effective system operations.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify and repair piping issues, leaks, and inefficiencies using industry tools and techniques.
  • System Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to optimize system performance and longevity.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to plan and execute installations and repairs.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all workplace safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in the installation and repair of live mechanical piping systems.
  • Strong familiarity with Plumbing, Mechanical, and Gasfitter codes.
  • Journeyman’s Plumbing or Gasfitter license (highly desirable).
  • Ability to work with various hand and power tools related to piping and plumbing.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including confined spaces and high-risk areas.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record may be required.

Work Environment:
You will work in various industrial settings, including construction sites, mechanical rooms, and live systems environments. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.

Pipefitters are typically tasked with installing and maintaining high and low pressure pipe systems, supports, and related equipment aboard waterborne or Naval vessels. A pipefitter is often required to lay out and fabricate full-scale pipe systems (including fire or sprinkler systems) prior to installation using blueprints and templates. Pipefitters must be familiar with the use of basic shop tools and machinery such as grinders, power and hand cutters, presses, bending machines, die and pipe threading machines. Pipefitters also must be familiar with various pipe joining techniques such as soldering, welding, and brazing.
Education
Most pipefitter careers require training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, and/or an associate's degree. A recognized apprenticeship program may be associated with these occupations.

Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is typically required.
