Shift: Day Shift / Evening Shift / Monday–Friday with Overtime Available
We are seeking an experienced Ship Superintendent II in Norfolk, VA to support repair estimation and project oversight for U.S. Naval vessels. This Ship Superintendent II role centers on managing complex surface ship repair packages, coordinating production, driving schedule adherence, and interfacing with multiple shipyard departments. Candidates must bring extensive ship repair experience, strong supervisory capability, and proficiency in work control procedures.
Responsibilities
• Manage assigned portions of Navy surface ship repair packages, including installation, modification, and repair of critical equipment and systems.
• Conduct ship checks, develop production schedules, prepare manpower projections, and interpret technical work items and drawings.
• Ensure all assigned work is completed on schedule and within established budgets.
• Coordinate with craft supervision and subcontractors to communicate milestones, key events, and target dates.
• Interface with Estimating, QA, Testing, Environmental, and Production Support departments to maintain operational continuity and progress.
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of U.S. Navy ship repair and modernization experience.
• At least 3 years in supervisory or project-management roles.
• High School diploma or equivalent plus applicable Trade/Armed Forces schooling and 5 years related experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of shipboard work control procedures, tag-out processes, and WAF (Work Authorization Form) requirements.
• Ability to develop and recommend workflow changes through the IDR (Inspection Discrepancy Report) process.
