Pay:
• Local: $45.00/hr
• Non-Local: $45.00/hr + $145/day per diem
Shift: Full-Time, 40 hrs/week | Overtime Available
We are hiring an experienced Advanced Shipfitter in Newport News, VA to support ship construction and structural installation. The Advanced Shipfitter role requires expert-level layout skills, precision fitting, structural alignment, and the ability to work to tight blueprint tolerances in a high-tempo production environment.
Responsibilities
• Layout, fit, and install ship structures including bulkheads, decks, and foundations.
• Read and interpret blueprints; burn, bevel, and fit steel components accurately.
• Align structures using squares, levels, lasers, and other precision tools.
• Tack structures in accordance with procedures and job requirements.
• Coordinate with welders, riggers, and production teams to safely erect modules.
Requirements
• Minimum 4 years of shipfitting experience, including advanced layout and fit-up.
• Proficiency with shipfitting tools including torches, grinders, mag drills, and layout tools.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and execute complex structural layouts.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Must pass background check and drug screening.
