Summary of duties – The Network Engineer III supports Prism Cyber’s Managed Security Services team by assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure network and cloud environments in alignment with NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC 2.0 requirements. This position works under supervision to configure systems, assist with compliance-driven tasks, and ensure secure IT operations for DoD contractor clients.

Specific description of duties –

  • Support configuration and maintenance of Microsoft 365 and Azure environments (GCC High, Azure Government).
  • Assist in setup of Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, and Defender for Endpoint policies.
  • Provide network support, including firewall configuration, VPN setup, and network segmentation under guidance.
  • Help document system configurations, baselines, and compliance evidence.
  • Monitor and report on security and compliance status using Sentinel, RocketCyber, or equivalent tools.
  • Participate in CMMC 2.0 readiness tasks—gathering data, documenting controls, updating SSPs and POA&Ms.
  • Provide technical support during migrations, audits, and client assessments.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel routinely.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and perform duties independently.
  • Perform other assignments or tasks as directed by management in support of organizational goals.

Education / Specialized training

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Information Technology or related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in IT systems, network administration, or cybersecurity.
  • Basic understanding of NIST SP 800-171, CMMC 2.0, and related compliance frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, basic Azure networking, and Intune/Defender tools.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Microsoft Fundamentals preferred.
  • Ability to obtain additional certifications as required for contract or project needs.

Security Clearance 

  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Clearance up to secret level may be required.

 Certifications/Licenses (as required for the task being performed)

  • Ability to access Government facilities by vehicle.
  • Active clearance or ability to obtain a clearance.

Physical/Environmental Job Requirements –

  • Lifting/moving up to and including 35 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to client or sites.
  • May require climbing stairs, accessing equipment spaces, or working in varied environmental conditions.
