NSC Staffing is seeking a Junior Systems/Software Technician for an exciting opportunity to support engineering teams in the design, integration, and testing of DDG systems. Position Overview:
As a Junior Systems/Software Technician, you will assist in the development, integration, and maintenance of complex naval systems with a focus on software operations and configurations. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure system reliability, troubleshoot issues, and support the software development lifecycle. This position offers hands-on experience with embedded Linux systems and an opportunity to grow in a high-tech, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Support: Collaborate with engineering teams to design, integrate, and test DDG systems, focusing on software operation and maintenance.
- Software Configuration Management: Assist in version control, delivery, and tracking of software updates; resolve Trouble Reports (TRs) and Software Trouble Reports (STRs).
- Integration Testing: Support integration and test efforts across multiple technical disciplines to reduce risk and ensure system performance.
- Technical Documentation: Provide technical information and clarification throughout the software development lifecycle; document designs and workflows for knowledge sharing.
- User Engagement: Work with customer representatives and subject matter experts to gather requirements and incorporate them into feature designs for agile development teams.
- System Administration: Perform software installation, configuration, user management, and troubleshooting on Linux-based systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify workflow inefficiencies and propose actionable solutions to enhance system performance.
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information processed or accessed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, with 2 years of relevant experience in software engineering, IT, or related field.
- Strong interest in embedded Linux, embedded hardware, and software development.
- Comfortable using Linux command-line interface; knowledge of Linux driver development or kernel debugging is a plus.
- Working knowledge of network systems and troubleshooting.
- Effective communicator with the ability to simplify complex technical topics.
- Motivated, self-starting, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Active DoD Clearance required or ability to successfully pass background screening.
