Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter/Mechanic to join our manufacturing team. This role involves fabricating, assembling, and installing metal components with precision and adherence to technical specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong welding skills, mechanical skills, and the ability to interpret schematics and blueprints. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects including ductwork, structural steel, and custom fabrication in a dynamic environment.
As a Fitter / Welder / Mechanic, you are responsible for welding metal components together to form a final product that is dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the Naval / Forestry / Agricultural industry. To excel in this role, a combination of a strong understanding of welding techniques and an eye for detail to produce the highest quality welds.
Job Duties:
- Read and follow technical drawings and blueprints to understand the welding requirements for each product
- Ensure proper materials are selected for each job to weld together metal components
- Follow safety protocols and wear the prescribed personal protective equipment to prevent injuries
- Operate lifting devices such as cranes (overhead and/or jib), to complete large welding jobs
- Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
- Ensure welding machines are properly calibrated
- Repair and rework welds as needed
- Communicate with supervisors and coworkers to ensure production schedules are met
Skills & Experience:
- Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
- Required to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawing specifications, procedures, and work instructions
- Assembly welding tasks require collaboration with team members, effective communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to make sound decisions when working on projects that involve multiple team members
- Physical requirements include standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending while welding/fabricating
- Extreme temperature exposure to weather changes (heat)
- Minimum 3 years of fabrication experience required
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of fabrication processes including fitting with the assistance of a fixture and welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
