Weld Supervisor – Marine Ship Repair

We are seeking an experienced Weld Supervisor with a proven background in NAVSEA ship repair to lead welding operations in a fast-paced shipyard environment. This role requires a hands-on leader who understands shipboard execution, quality requirements, and production demands.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily welding operations on U.S. Navy vessels, including repair, modification, and new fabrication
- Lead and coordinate welders to meet production schedules and project milestones
- Ensure all welding is performed in accordance with NAVSEA standards, WPSs, and contract requirements
- Review and interpret technical drawings, weld procedures, and work packages
- Enforce strict compliance with QA/QC requirements, inspections, and hold points
- Monitor weld quality and address deficiencies in real time
- Coordinate with QA, NDT, Planning, and Production teams
- Maintain a strong safety culture and enforce shipyard safety protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of NAVSEA welding experience (REQUIRED)
- Previous weld supervisor or foreman experience in a shipyard (REQUIRED)
- Strong knowledge of NAVSEA welding standards, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Experience with structural welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW as applicable)
- Ability to read and interpret ship drawings, weld symbols, and technical specs
- Experience supporting inspections, NDT processes, and QA documentation
- Familiarity with shipboard conditions and active repair environments
- OSHA 10 preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain shipyard access (All local shipyards, DBIDS eligible)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders, vertical access trunks, and staging frequently.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, tanks, voids, and tight compartments aboard vessels.
- Ability to work at heights and on uneven surfaces.
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, respirator, fall protection, and hearing protection.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, dust, and shipboard noise.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read schematics, blueprints.
- Ability to respond quickly in dynamic shipyard environments.
