QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST/INSPECTOR

We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist/Inspector to join the team in our Norfolk & National City, CA Field Offices. The QA Specialist/Inspector will inspect and monitor work performed for both government and commercial clients, with an intense focus on Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) inspections for Quality compliance. The successful candidate will review work packages prior to task commencement for completeness, accuracy and compliance to all technical specifications and requirements. The QA Specialist/Inspector will be adept at reviewing and working with Technical Work Documents, and will possess a strong familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, MIL-SPECS, TECH PUBS and 9090.310 F. Though this is not a supervisory role, the QA Specialist/Inspector will provide management oversight and assist with the training and career development of various production trades as they relate to Quality Assurance and Safety. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and will assist with administrative functions that include internal audits, training, document and procedure development, and other duties as assigned. While the majority of work items will be shipboard, experience in facility maintenance is a plus. The QA Specialist/Inspector is expected to: actively engage and educate Project and Planning Coordinators to align on quality support-work priorities and assignments in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items and other requirements; provide general guidance and structured training on quality protocols and procedures; generate Test and Inspection (T&I) Plans for applicable tasking; schedule and conduct in-process work and safety surveillances; review post-completion final work package; conduct internal company audits to monitor compliance with Quality Management System and customer requirements; defines test standards and specifies test equipment as per requirements in T&I plans; generates Corrective Action Notices as needed; ensure quality acceptance of in-process and final product prior to shipment or final turnover to the customer; conduct inspections of incoming material using various measuring equipment and work with engineering; maintain Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) records; work with management team to identify and resolve problems, improve customer service levels, communicate policy, procedures and practices; as requested, manage systems and procedures to protect departmental assets; and other duties as assigned. The Quality Assurance Specialist/Inspector may be expected, at times, to work non-traditional hours in accordance with the demands of a particular project and may be required, at times, to travel to customer sites outside of the Field Service Office area. Physical requirements may include but are not limited to: kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, working in confined spaces, exposure to hot/cold temperatures for extended periods, lifting, pushing and pulling. Education & Qualifications: •High School Diploma or equivalent with Navy ‘A’ / ‘C’ school(s) or completion of some form of vocational, maritime, or journeyman training program AND a minimum of 2 years of technical experience as a Quality Assurance Specialist/Inspector. •Knowledge of U.S. Navy: 60/400Hz electrical systems, electronic systems, tag-out and WAF programs/procedures. •Full understanding of ISO Quality Assurance and maritime safety practices. •Ability to interpret drawings and schematics. •Strong practical knowledge of quality assurance programs, quality control inspection systems. •Detailed knowledge of NAVSEA procedures, process, methods and techniques. •Read and understand Technical specifications and manuals. •Knowledge of Quality Assurance practices (Company, ISO, ASQ, etc.) •Maritime Safety practices. •Ability to ship-check, plan and make working recommendations for system configuration changes. •Working knowledge of various trade mathematics and formulas in order to calculate requisite and/or check requisite acceptance criteria. •Ability to use mechanical and digital test equipment and tools, verify measurements and oversee assembly operations. •Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). •Strong Attention to detail, accuracy, and is committed to high quality standards. •Strong Self-Management Skills.Ability to obtain a security clearance – SECRET.
