June Luncheon Speaker: OSHA Area Director Stan Dutko

The June General Membership Luncheon meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel. The Guest Speaker will be Mr. Stanley J. Dutko, Jr., OSHA Area Director, Norfolk Area Office. 

Mr. Dutko was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania and was raised in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania.  He graduated from Penn Cambria Senior High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of seventeen.  He holds Safety Professional Designations of Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) from the Texas Engineering Extension Service, Texas A&M University, Manager of Environmental Safety and Health Programs (MESH) and Construction Manager of Environmental Safety and Health Programs (CMESH) from the Industrial Extension Service, North Carolina State University.  Mr. Dutko is an Honor Graduate of the United States Army Safety and Occupational Health Career Program Twelve (CP-12) Course and is also a Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration Outreach Trainer. 

Mr. Dutko’s Military assignments have included tours at:  Marine Barracks 8th & I, Washington DC, 1st Battalion 5th Marines, Camp Pendleton, California, Marine Corps Recruit Training Regiment Parris Island, South Carolina, 3rd Battalion 1st Marines, Camp Pendleton, California, Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia, Officer Candidates School, Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia, 2nd Battalion 6th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Headquarters 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Joint Task Force GTMO, Guantanamo Bay Cuba.  Mr. Dutko retired from the Marine Corps in July of 2005.

As a Civil Servant, Mr. Dutko has served as a Tactical Safety Specialist with the Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana, as the Regional Deputy Safety Manager, Marine Corps Installations Command East, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and as the Safety Manager, Marine Corps Installations Command East, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  In March of 2008, Mr. Dutko assumed duties as the Director of Safety, Marine Corps Installations Command East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.  In October of 2015, Mr. Dutko assumed his current duties with the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration as the Area Director for the Norfolk, Virginia, Area Office.

Mr. Dutko's Military Decorations include:  The Joint Service Commendation Medal, The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal 3rd award, The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat "V" 3rd award, the Combat Action Ribbon 3rd award, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Navy Unit Commendation, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal 6th award, the National Defense Service Medal 2nd award, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal 2nd award, the Southwest Asia Service Medal 3rd Award, the Global war on Terrorism Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon 4th award, the Marine Corps Drill Instructor Service Ribbon, the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), and the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait).

Mr. Dutko’s Civilian Personal Awards include:  Honor Graduate, Career Program Twelve (CP-12), June 2006, the United States Marine Corps Superior Achievement in Safety Award (Civilian) 2009 and the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal in July of 2015.  

Mr. Dutko is happily married to the former Miss Francye Floyd of Wilson, North Carolina; they have four children.
