Norfolk Technical Center (NTC) just graduated their senior class of future welders and the Virginia Ship Repair Foundation is proud to be part of a new program to bring our trades professionals into the learning environment of these students. This new program is designed to build ship repair skill sets into existing vocational courses and add hands-on lessons with experts from our ship yards. Tecnico took the lead in launching this pilot program, and over the summer we will be working closely with NTC to create a formal package of materials the instructors can incorporate into their coursework. Our connection to the technical schools across the region is an integral part of our future ability to fulfill workforce demands. We were not only very impressed with the eagerness of the students we worked with, but with the willingness of NTC staff to collaborate with the ship repair industry.
