The November Membership Lunch Speaker will be Rear Admiral Dixon R. Smtih.
Smith grew up in Green’s Farms, CT, attended Naval Academy Preparatory School, and received his United States Naval Academy commission in 1983. He was designated a surface warfare officer in 1985.
Smith’s sea tour experience includes first lieutenant, damage control assistant, operations office, and executive officer. As commanding officer with USS The Sullivans (DDG 68), he deployed with the John F. Kennedy Battle Group in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2001 to 2003.
Among his shore assignments are seamanship instructor at Naval Education and Training Center, aide to the Naval Inspector General in Washington, D.C., service in support of two Commanders during NATO operations in Kosovo, and Commander of several Naval Bases and Regions. He is currently Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic.
Smith is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS, and has a master’s degree in business from Webster University.
