Rear Admiral Dixon R. Smith, VSRA’s November speaker, presented his report, “Your Navy in the Mid-Atlantic Region: Supporting the ‘Fleet, Fighter and Family.’” Hampton Roads’ Navy family of approximately 276,000 has a total direct economic impact of $14.9 billion. RADM Smith emphasized that the Navy is devoted to ensuring continued support of its staff, “facilitating sailors’ transition back to civilian life,” and “consistent, standardized and reliable shore support of our quality installations.”
