Our speaker for the January General Membership Meeting was Bill Crow who gave the first ever VSRA Annual Report. The overarching theme of his presentation was the continued focus on our strengths as ship repairers and the committment VSRA has to serving the industry. A key component of the strategic planning process was including all of our member companies. Mr. Crow visitied dozens of memebrs at their locations to understand their needs and where VSRA best serves their interests. In addition, two surveys were consucted to assess memebr values and priorities. Click Here for a copy of his presentation. After the Annual Report, Mr. Crow gave the membership a skyline view of the 2020 Strategic Plan, including expectations for achievement in 2014 and beyond. The five major goals are:
Strategic Goals
1. Maintain the Hampton Roads industrial base and leverage it to compete in present and future complementary markets.
2. Improve relationships and communications with federal, state, regional and local government agencies, and the public, to build greater support for the ship repair industry.
3. Attract new workers to replace the current aging workforce and meet future industry demands.
4. Provide enhanced access to training resources and tools to meet workforce knowledge and skill level requirements for efficiency, safety and performance
5. Improve VSRA operations, participation and benefits to provide greater value for members.
