Senator Frank Wagner joined us for our April membership luncheon. He provided an overview of this year's General Assembly session and also discussed opportunities and challenges ahead for the ship repair industry. His remarks discussed a most promising future in the development of electrical energy through offshore wind for Virginia. He indicated that our industry is well-aligned to the existing business lines of VSRA member companies and would diversify, strengthen and stabilize our industrial base. Senator Wagner has been at the forefront of bringing wind energy as a reality to Virginia. VSRA leadership is heavily engaged in educating community members on the future positive attributes regarding this issue. In addition, his remarks included challenges such as workforce optimization, uncertainty surrounding funding policy and a need for more collaboration in business and government were remarked upon.
