Shipboard Team Lead

Summary The Shipboard Team Leader oversees all key aspects of the project's progress; determines personnel, material, equipment, and facilities needed, establishes basic priorities and work sequences, and maintains balanced workload among subordinates through proper distribution of work projects and allotment of manpower, equipment, and materials. Responsibilities • Assists in the development and adherence of the maintenance and repair budgets, as well as controls expenditures within limitations of a designated project's budget. • May prepare and present status reports to customer, project team and management. • Supervises the timely and cost-effective maintenance, repair, modification, and refurbishment projects of the existing fleet or facilities. • Monitors the contractors and/or shipyards during projects. • Conducts on-site surveys to determine maintenance and repair needs. • Ensures all Team members are properly trained, qualified and comply with regulatory training and/or certification requirements. • Independent decision-making authority within established guidelines • Assist with the overall responsibility for schedule adherence • Work closely with his assigned Shipyard Supervisors and ensure that they understand their areas of responsibility • Responsible for collection of physical progress each week for their jobs • Work closely with the representatives from various classification societies and governing agencies • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment- hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes and, when necessary, respirator • Work independently to complete responsibilities • Must have regular, reliable attendance Qualifications • 10 years of technical Submarine and Shipboard equipment and system integration, alteration and repair. • Functional knowledge of project management and project management tools and techniques • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software including Microsoft Project • Strong background in Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Must have a strong working knowledge of project planning, staffing requirements to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects. • Ability to direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progress on schedule and with-in prescribed budget • Strong knowledge of NAVSEA standard items for shipboard installations and repair. • Ability to handle highly complex tasks uncovering and resolving problems associated with analysis and development of technical specifications. • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance, and DIBIDS Preferred • High school or Community College diploma • Shipyard Trade or apprentice training • Shipyard and or intermediate maintenance facility background Supervisory Responsibilities This is a supervisory position responsible for the repair, maintenance and modifications of vessels and equipment or facilities assigned to a specific region or operating company which may be allocated in support of a specific project.
