QA/QC Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented AMPP-certified QA/QC Inspector to oversee and verify quality control activities for industrial and marine coating projects. This role is responsible for ensuring all surface preparation, coating application, and inspection activities comply with project specifications, AMPP/SSPC standards, and applicable customer/regulatory requirements.

An successful candidate will excel in these essential areas:

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform and document inspections of surface preparation and coating application in accordance with project specifications and AMPP standards.

• Verify environmental conditions prior to and during coating operations.

• Measure and record surface profile, cleanliness, and coating thickness.

• Inspect for defects including holidays, pinholes, runs, sags, and contamination.

• Prepare daily inspection reports and final quality turnover packages.

• Maintain calibration records for inspection equipment.

• Track coating batch numbers and inspection checkpoints.

• Support training of painters and blasters on quality requirements.

 

Required Qualifications:

• AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector (CCI) Level 2 or higher.

• 3–5 years of experience in industrial or marine coatings inspection.

• Knowledge of surface preparation standards.

  • NAVSEA or USACE specification experience.

• QP-1 / QS-1 environment experience, ability to lead or assist in annual audits.

• Ability to interpret coating specifications and drawings.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Valid driver’s license, ability to pass a background check, obtain base access,  ability to travel on an incidental basis.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in industrial environments.

• Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.

• Ability to wear PPE.
