Material Coordinator

Position Title: Material Coordinator Work Location: Chesapeake, VA FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt REQ# 19_091905 Summary of duties – Prism Maritime, LLC is currently seeking a Material Coordinator to work out of their Chesapeake, VA office. The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies in accordance with production and shipping schedules or supervisors’ priorities. In this job, the Material Coordinator reviews production schedules and confers with supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arranges for transfer of materials to meet production schedules, coordinates with supervisors for repair and assembly of material and it’s transportation, and examines material delivered to verify it meets material specified. Specific description of duties: • Research Vendors to purchase material • Obtain quotes for materials • Create material requisitions • Create DD-1149 • Prepare shipments based on materials ordered, verify part and quantities match the drawings • Provide direct support to Project Manager • Keep weekly status reports updated • Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives, and goals. Additional Skills and Other Notes • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting cost trends. • Have advanced working knowledge of Deltek/GCS. • In-depth knowledge of Defense Contracting Accounting Principles (FAR and DFAR). • Ability to interpret, draft, and apply regulations, policies and guidance as needed. • Excellent organizational ability and detail-oriented approach to assigned tasks. • Strong corporate communication skills and ability to problem-solve and collaborate professionally with multiple departments. Security Clearance • Clearance up to Secret level may be required. Physical/Environmental Job Requirements Physical requirements include the following: • Lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds • Routinely climbing several flights of stairs • Performing tasks in confined spaces Our work is primarily onboard naval vessels that may include variables of physical activity, i.e. stooping, climbing, walking, etc. In performing these duties, you may be required to work outdoors. You will experience temperature variations, extremely loud noises and other physical hazards. Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and/or receiving duties which may require the use of hand trucks, forklifts, and other devices, as well as computers to maintain data. Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment. Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials; prepares records of materials shipped and bills of lading; routes materials to destinations. May lay out, fabricate, and assemble nonstandard shipping crates and boxes, and prepare parts and tooling for special shipment.

Ability to lift forty pounds, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes and work in high heat/cold environments, aboard ships, under industrial conditions, in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme weather. Ability to operate portable power tools. Work may involve climbing and working on ladders.
