FSG Master Tradesperson 2 (Fabrication/Shipboard Fitter) HII FLEET SUPPORT GROUP (0480) Chesapeake-Virginia-United States 27349BR External Job Description Position Specifics: You must have the following experience in order to qualify for this position. •Must have direct experience with mechanical applications on industrial equipment. •Must be capable and have knowledge of using various mechanical industrial tools such as precision measuring instruments, minor rigging equipment, portable power units and mechanical fastening devices. •Must be able to interpret blueprints and schematics/drawings. •Must be proficient with standard fitting procedures: Carbon arc, plasma cutting, OXY/ACET torch. • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) ID card and at a minimum, a DoD CONFIDENTIAL security clearance. • Must be able to travel locally or out of area up to 50% of the time. Current passport and out of country travel possible for tasking as required This position will primarily work out of our Woodlake Fabrication Shop location in Chesapeake, VA but will also travel locally to shipyards and military bases supporting our Marine Services Department in fabrication and fleet modernization. With the understanding that tasking may require out of town travel for short durations up to 50% of the time. This is depending on contract awards and support required as per trade/skill set. Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel. Applies understanding of production and processes to assignments. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May assist in the development and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment. Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
