Develop drawings and calculations (preferred) for various electrical systems including but not limited to:
Power Generation and Distribution Systems
Interior Communications (IC) systems including phone, announcing, intercoms, alarm, and warning Systems
Electronic Systems including: communications, navigational, radar, and computer network
Provide electrical drafting and design services for various marine vessels.
Develop list of materials for procurement of electrical systems and subsystems.
Research material requirements for specific tasks.
Coordinate with structural and mechanical disciplines for overall design development.
Ensure design compliance with Valkyrie and customer standards and procedures.
Ability to design electrical systems from cradle to grave for new designs or ship alteration tasks.
Perform Quality Assurance and review checks of documents created by self and others.
Incorporate Technical Authority review corrections and changes to ensure drawings are compliant with standards and drafting requirements.
Provide the supervisor or design lead with daily progress of ongoing tasks.
Perform detailed shipchecks or on-site surveys of vessels to determine the necessary electrical modifications and provide verification of ship’s current condition.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED and specialized training in the electrical/electronic marine design field (Shipyard Apprenticeship, trade, or industrial school) with at least 5 years of experience. OR an AAS in Engineering or Drafting and specialized training in the electrical/electronic marine design field (Shipyard Apprenticeship, trade, or industrial school) with at least 3 years of experience. OR a BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology and specialized training in the electrical/electronic marine design field (Shipyard Apprenticeship, trade, or industrial school) with at least 1 year of experience.
Must have experience with drawing development of at least one of the following: U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC), commercial vessels, or habitability for any vessel.
Must be knowledgeable in NAVSEA, American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS), and USCG standards and specifications as they relate to engineering, design, and drawing development. Demonstrated subject matter knowledge in use of ASME B36 and ASME B16 and familiarity with IDEA CAD Standards, NESDR, and ISID.
Must be able to utilize Computer-Aided (CAD) software (AutoCAD 2008 or newer) to develop drawings.
Must be familiar with drafting standards, symbols, nomenclature, and engineering terms.
Must have a working knowledge of habitability standards and approved habitability materials for use on U.S. Navy ships.
Must be able to work in an office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders (including ship masts), tolerating confined spaces, and tolerating extreme temperature variances during site surveys.
Must have experience performing on-site surveys of multiple naval combatants.
Must be able to support and coordinate multiple engineering and design tasks simultaneously.
Experience in the development of drawings and accomplishment of Quality Assurance and review of drawings created by others.
Experience in the supervision of design personnel and leading ship checks.
Experience with 3D Modeling would be beneficial
Knowledge and experience with TS9090-600
Experience with drawing development of more than one of the following: U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC), commercial vessels, or habitability for any vessel.
Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility for U.S. DoD Secret security clearance and have the ability to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
An active DoD Secret security clearance is preferred

Must be willing to travel CONUS; willing to travel OCONUS preferred
site visits to ship and shore facilities
Must be able to work in industrial areas such as confined spaces, ladders, masts, platforms, etc.
Must be able to lift and move materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one person lift.

Work could primarily be located in a shipyard.

Engineering Design workers are typically responsible for the generation of panel layouts, sub assemblies, schematics, wiring diagrams, wire run lists, component selection, etc. for electrical systems of large scale industrial machinery. The main tool for design documentation is AutoCAD.
•Assure drawings and layouts are accurate, complete, and finished in a timely manner.
•Generation and maintenance of bill of materials and parts lists.
•Applying Engineering design techniques and utilize calculations in support of design/experimental activities.
•Develop electrical wiring schematics, sub-assembly drawings, and bills of material for control system design.
•Identify and solve technical engineering problems.
•Provide or assist in the creation of technical descriptions of operation, equipment checkout procedures, technical reports, user manuals and other documentation as required.
•Release components and system designs for manufacture of orders.
•Estimate man-hours required for tasks and report progress on assigned tasks.
•Provide plans, schedules, and estimates for technical programs.
•Work in conjunction with other groups to organize and plan assigned projects.
A BSEE / BSET or Two Year Electrical Technical Degree is typically required.
1-5 years experience in CAD electrical design related to ship repair/maintenance using recent versions of AutoCAD
Must be able to read, interpret and produce engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, point-to-point drawings, and engineering fabrication drawings
Must be able to work aboard vessels, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Must be a team player
Must be flexible in reference to project priorities
Must be willing to assemble technical manuals
