This job position incorporates a combination of responsibilities including but not limited to:
-Administration, implementation, and maintenance of company’s corporate ----------Quality Management System
-Quality Assurance standardization within the company’s ship repair business
-Management and administration of company’s Welding Program
-Management and administration of company’s Non-destructive Testing Program
-Planning, directing, and coordinating work activities and resources necessary for program responsibilities.
-As Corporate QA Director this position will involve some travel in support of the company’s other business divisions and affiliates.
-Corporate QMS/ISO representative, certifying authority (SSPC QP-1, ISO 9001:2015, ASNT TC-1A for NDT, NAVSEA Tech Pub-248 for welding, internal/external training) for executive management.
-Holds weekly corporate QA liaison meetings with company divisions in Florida and California. Researches, develops, and/or approves all corporate procedures for use. Ensures all necessary corporate processes are established, implemented, measured, monitored, and maintained in support of all operations.
-Responsible for implementation and management of company Internal Audit Program. Develops audit plans, schedules and conducts audits of company processes. Provides audit reports of findings.
-Responsible for management of the corporate CAR program, ensuring Customer issues (CARs), non-conformance (NCRs), Supplier CARs, Preventive Action Requests (PARs), and Audit Findings are tracked, properly investigated with appropriate corrective actions, and reported back to customers are required.
-Performs analysis of data relating to conformity of product quality and processes, quality objectives, customer satisfaction, supplier performance, trends of processes and products and facilitates management reviews of data analysis with senior management.
-Delegates tasking for managing Test & Inspection logs for tracking contractually mandated “V,” “I,” and “G” inspection points for individual ship repair projects. Schedules and coordinates the required “I” and “G” point inspections.
-Responsible for company Continuous Process Improvement Program including, recommendations for improvements, facilitating training, and CPI events.
-Acts as liaison to trade, business and technical organizations such as: American Maritime Association (AMMA), Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA), American Society for Quality Control (ASQC) for nondestructive testing (ASNT), National Association for corrosion engineering (NACE), and other industry organization who directly affect ECR standing within our industry.
-Responsible for direction of company weld program administration and implementation including welding research, weld procedure development and qualification, welder performance qualification and testing. Liaison for regulatory agency witnessing, submission and approval of weld procedures and welder performance testing, such as NAVSEA, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), American Welding Society (AWS).
-Responsible for administering current and future welding and ship fitting development training program.
-Responsible for direction of company NDT Program administration, implementation, and maintenance including NDT research, methodology, procedure development, NDT personnel training, testing, certification, and maintenance of certification records.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-Bachelor’s degree preferred. Alternatively, 10 years related experience and/or training will be considered.
-Thorough working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items.
-Thorough working knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015- and 5-years’ experience in managing Quality Management Systems.
-ISO 9001: 2015 Lead Auditor certification.
-Lean Six Sigma Business Process Improvement certification preferred.
-NDT Level III Examiner certification in VT, MT, PT, UT thickness, UT shear wave.
-Must have Microsoft software experience.
-Must be able to gain access to military installation.
-Must pass drug test and background check.
-Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
-Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
This position works in an office environment with occasional visit to a worksite. There is generally no exposure to hostile environments or loud noises or hazardous chemicals or smoke or extreme temperatures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
During worksite visits will be required to wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to:
-Ear plugs or attenuator
-Dust mask or respirator
