Position Title: Financial Analyst
Work Location: Chesapeake, VA
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Summary of duties — Prism Maritime, LLC is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to work out of their Chesapeake, VA office. The Financial Analyst has a thorough understanding of Project Management tools and techniques. Assists the Project Manager in the preparation of plans, WBSs, POA&Ms, Staffing Plans, EVM reports, Risk Identification and Response Plans, Communication plans, and interprets cost analysis information. Also responsible for a secondary review of all planned, committed, and expended purchases, associated travel, sub-contract and labor hours for the project.
Specific description of duties:
Verifies that budgets are loaded into the financial accounting system correctly; works with the Program Management Office to resolve differences.
Updates the Work Breakdown Structure.
Analyze estimates against historical data; identifies and investigates reasons for differences.
Provides EVM metrics using the WBS, POA&M and task status provided by the Installation Supervisor.
Provide reports on excess material using a Material Management System, Financial Accounting system, and input from the Material Coordinator and Installation Supervisor.
Runs Project Expenditure Reports, monitors Labor / Material and Other Direct Charges and commitments; informs the Project Manager of possible discrepancies along with recommended corrective action.
Submits CDRs / CORNs.
Runs and provides reports on the task technical status for inclusion in the weekly and monthly report.
Provides material status by running reports from a Material Management System, Financial Accounting System, and input from the Material Coordinator and Purchasing Manager.
Analyzes and provides the Project Manager with a report on the availability of resources.
Monitors estimate entry into an estimating module to ensure all applicable elements are loaded; informs the Project Manager when all estimates have been entered.
Archives file upon task completion.
Monitors the status of deliverables and informs the Project Manager on upcoming deliverables.
Provides information for Task Order Closeout reports.
Occasional travel outside the local area may be required.
Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization's mission, objectives and goals.
High School diploma or GED mandatory
Bachelor's degree, or Associates degree and two years, or four years related experience.
Degree should be in Engineering, Management, Accounting, or related field.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
Have a firm working knowledge of Deltek/GCS and Word processing software with emphasis on MS Excel
In-depth knowledge of Defense Contracting Accounting Principles (FAR and DFAR)
Additional Skills and Other Notes
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent organizational ability and detail-oriented approach to assigned tasks.
Strong corporate communication skills and ability to problem-solve and collaborate professionally with multiple departments.
Clearance up to Secret level may be required.
Physical/Environmental Job Requirements
Physical requirements include the following:
Lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds
Routinely climbing several flights of stairs
Performing tasks in confined spaces
Our work is primarily onboard naval vessels that may include variables of physical activity, i.e. stooping, climbing, walking, etc.
In performing these duties, you may be required to work outdoors. You will experience temperature variations, extremely loud noises and other physical hazards.
