FSG Technical Subject Matter Expert (NDT) HII FLEET SUPPORT GROUP (0480) Chesapeake-Virginia-United States 33136BR External Job Description The selected candidate will be supporting our Marine Services Operation working on naval vessels, in FSG facilities and company offices. They will be responsible for performing Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and Quality Assurance inspections in accordance with company and Government procedures, including all documentation and reporting requirements. They will also have responsibilities for developing, maintaining and reviewing Quality assurance work packages for company tasking. Selected candidate will be required to travel to shipyards, military bases and administrative offices located around the country when not assigned to a local task. Per diem available based on location when on travel, travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company. There is potential to work overtime depending on contract need. Position Specifics: Candidate must have the following to qualify for the position. • Must have Non-Destructive Test experience. • Must have current or prior Non Destructive Testing Level II Visual Testing (VT) certificate. • Must have knowledge and understanding of NAVSEA/ Government standards. • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance and base access/credentials. • Must be able to travel 50% of the time. Considered subject matter expert in technical specialty. May work directly with customer or customer representatives, attend meetings and deploy for special projects. Ability to manage, oversee, schedule and assign tasks to one or more multiple jobs. Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States. Preferred Qualifications • Candidates with alteration and installation experience preferred. • Candidates with current or prior Non Destructive Test Level II Penetrant Test (PT), Magnetic Particle Test (MT) and/or Ultrasonic Test (UT) certification preferred.
