FSG Matl Dist Handling Support 3 Chesapeake-Virginia-United States 33304BR External Job Description Selected candidate will control the manual and clerical shipment processes of materials for furnishing of government contracts. Position will be expected to apply knowledge to support the material handling of shipbuilding/ship repair operations to enable critical alteration and installation construction, implement logistical methods to complete all stages of incoming and outgoing shipments, operate hand trucks, forklifts and other devices as required to fulfill work orders, and ensure adherence to naval contracts compliance. Position Specifics: Candidate must have the following to qualify for the position. • Must have shipping and receiving experience. • Must have data entry experience to input/maintain information logistics database to record receiving, storing and distribution of customer and government acquired materials. • Must be able to work on multiple projects at one time in an organized and timely manner. • Must be able to work in a warehouse environment. • Must have knowledge of hazmat procedures for handling and shipping of hazardous materials. • Must have knowledge of operating hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, heavy machinery and/or equivalent. • Must be able to obtain/maintain a DoD secret security clearance and base access credentials. Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and/or receiving duties which may require the use of hand trucks, forklifts, and other devices, as well as computers to maintain data. Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment. Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials; prepares records of materials shipped and bills of lading; routes materials to destinations. May lay out, fabricate, and assemble nonstandard shipping crates and boxes, and prepare parts and tooling for special shipment. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift forty pounds, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes and work in high heat/cold environments, aboard ships, under industrial conditions, in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme weather. Ability to operate portable power tools. Work may involve climbing and working on ladders.
