Coast Guard Project Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY: Provide engineering and technical services to include but not limited to: technology insertion; performance specifications; performance and data analysis; system integration; installation support; computer programming and software engineering; and on-site technical support, alteration services, Integrated logistics, system certification in support the various ship repairs associated with the US Coast Guard. LOCATION: Norfolk, VA. PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides Senior level guidance and advice to personnel on the removal, installation, modification, repair, and troubleshooting of various Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems and components. • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job. • Must be able to read and interpret work specifications, drawings, technical manuals and CRs/CFRs. • Works under limited supervision and routinely exercises independent judgement. Typically reports to a Program Manager. • May lead and direct effort of groups of personnel. • Must be able to work onboard ship for extended periods of time. • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and obtain and maintain a security badge for all US Coast Guard installations and civilian shipyards. REQUIRED EDUCATION: • High school diploma, a trade/industrial school graduation certificate, or a certificate of completion from a technical or military school with either a/an: • Mechanical oriented course of study (e.g. Boiler Technician (BT), Hull Technician (HT) and Mechanist Mate (ME), etc.). • Electrical and or mechanical oriented course of study including electronic theory and the theory of the operation and maintenance of ships electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: • Experience working in a shipyard/ship repair environment • Have extensive knowledge of USCG vessel maintenance availability requirements along with an intimate knowledge and understanding of USCG contracting rules and regulations for voyage repairs and dockside availabilities. • Prospective employees must be a US Citizen with a Clean Background and able to pass a Drug Screen • DBIDS is required. • Current Security clearance preferred • Eight (8) years of experience involving HM&E Machinery and Systems including the repair and maintenance of valves and associated equipment. • Three (3) years of experience in the supervision of Technical Support for Alteration/SC installation, maintenance, or repair of HM&E Systems
