The selected candidate will serve as the CVN 74 Production Lead and will be responsible for production efforts related to the development, revision, and hull-extension of Equipment and COTS technical manuals in support of the CVN 74 RCOH. The selected candidate will provide support for related RCOH Technical Manual efforts on existing and future contract hulls as required. This position will be located at our NetCenter office in Hampton, What You Will Do • Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders. What You Must Have • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience. • Be able to apply critical thinking to resolve technical issues. Should be able to recognize moderate to complex data source relationships to derive desired and necessary solutions. • Be able to evaluate and execute complex processes to reach sound prioritized decisions. Be able to provide recommendations to the project team to resolve discrepancies, schedule conflicts, and course corrections for production or technical related issues. • Be able to multitask between multiple projects with concurrent product delivery timelines. • Be able to conduct in-depth research related to material identification across multiple inter-related data sources. • Be able to professionally communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including cross-departmental representatives, NNS Points of Contact, Government/DoD/DoN representatives, at various levels within their respective organizations, to facilitate a collaborative environment. Be able to understand and address stakeholder capabilities, needs, and priorities. • Be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential security clearance. • Must be a U.S. Citizen. Bonus Points • Working knowledge of the Navy’s Technical Data Management Information System (TDMIS) database. • Working knowledge of the Navy’s Configuration Data Managers Database-Open Architecture (CDMD-OA) database. • A working understanding of Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) Sourcing, Testing, and Engineering departments. • A general understanding of Navy Technical Manual Management Activities and processes to develop and distribute technical manuals. • Working knowledge of NNS RCOH documentation including: Ship Installation Drawings, Inspection Reports, Field Modification Revisions (FMRs), Design Liaison Action Requests (DLARs). • A working knowledge of NNS SAP or COGNOS reporting. • Understanding of the Navy TMDER process. • Sufficient general knowledge related to the construction, function, and operation of shipboard hull, mechanical, and electrical equipment. • Proficiency with technical writing principles, as well as a broad understanding of Navy technical manuals related to general content and formatting requirements. • Working familiarity and general knowledge of quality assurance program practices and principles. Physical Requirements May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
