Quality Control Inspector

Basic Purpose and Function: The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) will assist with the development, review, and implementation of FMS Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, plans, and work instructions. This role is responsible for the communication of QMS requirements to all stakeholders and reports any deficiencies and proposed corrective actions to the Chief Quality Engineer. Skills & Qualifications: Ability to solve technical problems by analyzing data and using common root cause analysis tools (such as 7-step problem solving, 5-why, fishbone diagrams and fault tree diagrams) Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from stakeholders. Tolerance to perform and make decisions when given incomplete and uncertain information. Ability to interpret and follow instructions, specifications and procedures furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Ability to use various inspection equipment [calipers, micrometers, rulers, deep mics, bore gages, etc.] Knowledge of quality control inspection methods Knowledge of inspecting materials, parts, and products at different stages of production. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the shipbuilding and engineering field. Ability to read and interpret Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations, Naval Sea Systems (NAVSEA) Standard Items, and State and Local regulations. Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standard and requirements (preferred) Familiarity with engine systems and components (preferred) Certified Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor (preferred). Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum five (5) years of professional experience working in a quality assurance role (preferred) or a similar role involving inspection/measurements, problem solving and reporting. Major Responsibility (Functions/Duties): Performs quality control inspections, measurements, and tests of products and services to approve receipts, repair, and delivery. Documents inspection results by completing reports and maintaining database logs. Maintains records for submission to certification agencies including American Bureau of Shipping, Environmental Protection Agency, US Customs, etc. Produces Non-Conforming Reports (NCRs) for incoming non-conforming parts and manages issue investigation and resolution. Assists with investigation of organizational non-conformances and corrective actions. Performs periodic safety audits. Assists with ISO 9001:2015 compliance and certification audits. Maintains measurement equipment by following operating instructions and calling for repairs and calibration when needed. Maintains control of formal quality process documents.
