SSPC Water Blaster
Job Summary A Water Blaster has experience with the laborer job functions in the Nonskid department and some painting experience. The ideal candidate knows how to use grinding tools, heavy equipment, and power tools. May be required to perform additional duties as deems necessary by the Production manager for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner. Must be in Norfolk, Virginia, we are not looking to relocate candidates at this time. Responsibilities: Remove dirt, paint, grease, and other built-up material from surfaces Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment Load and unload the blast cabinet Assist with painting or coating as needed Apply and remove non-skid materials as needed Use proper PPE Effectively using heavy and light equipment, depending on the jobsite/assignment Implement and follow the company's safety, quality, and environmental policies Qualifications: Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines Attentive to detail and alert always to ensure safety Able to receive, and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers Excellent Verbal and written communication skills Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment Previous experience, especially in particular industry, 3 years preferred SSPC C7 Certification Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED, B.A., Technical/Vocational trade school, or apprenticeship Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Work is conducted indoors and outdoors frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions. Work indoor or aboard vessel which may have fumes, chemicals, and heat as well as noise and dust present depending upon the location of work. Safety equipment required.
