Essential Roles and Responsibilities for the Proposal Manager Position:
Leads various aspects of the proposal development effort
Creates the outline, builds templates, proofreads, prepares review drafts and final editions, schedules meetings, and tracks the completion of assignments
Coordinates with cross-functional teams to develop quotations and gathers the necessary information required for bid submission
Reviews proposal instructions, develops the style guide, and creates computer graphics
Collates concept papers into a single body of work and ensures completed proposals are professional
Edits written inputs from other proposal authors
Assumes responsibility for final proposal editing and production
Attends meetings to support development of engagement, capture, and win strategies
Assumes responsibility for the Corporate Style Guide
Assesses competitors by analyzing and summarizing competitor information and trends
Develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts, soliciting new accounts, building rapport, and providing timely and relevant information
Acknowledges Customer Purchase Orders and keeps accurate filing of customer correspondence and direct communications
Participates in special projects and proposals as assigned
Coordinates on site meetings with customers and potential clients
Continually updates job knowledge by studying new products and attending educational seminars
Qualifications:
BA/BS in a related academic field of study, or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience, or 8 years directly related experience
Individuals with job experience, coursework, or specialized training in marketing, communications, writing, editing, and/or proofreading are highly preferred
Shipley training highly preferred
Minimum Requirements:
Outstanding organizational skills to manage simultaneously occurring tasks
Excellent interpersonal, communication and team-building skills
Keen eye for detail and skills in copy-editing, grammar, style, spelling, and punctuation
Able to effectively work under pressure in a team-oriented environment
Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work products for complex, high-visibility proposals
Proficiency in MS Office and other common desktop applications that contribute to the production of high-caliber proposals
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Regularly demonstrates creativity; able to interpret customer RFQ documents
